2022 Christmas Lunch at The Australian Club

3 December 2022

Our final function for the year was the Christmas Luncheon and Cheque Presentation to our CPU’S, hosted once again at The Australian Club, for which we are all most appreciative.

The Club looked superb. Pre-drinks were held in a room adjoining the dining room where lively Christmas music was performed by two talented young people from the Conservatorium. This set the scene for the day.

Flowers and sparkly decorations adorned the tables and the room graced with the Christmas Tree. Our traditional Christmas lunch was delicious and the staff were ever attentive and helpful. The day proceeded smoothly. Maureen welcomed our guests, thanked our sponsors and supporters and presented cheques to representatives of the Child Protection Units. We also heard from Maureen of the recognition Cornucopia received from the Sydney Children’sHospital Foundation on reaching the $1 Million Milestone award.

We welcomed and thanked our Guest Speaker Bernadette Walsh, Manager at the Child Protection Unit at Sydney Children’s Hospital, who really held our attention. Bernadette has worked in the Child Protection space i nAustralia for over 20 years. Before she came to Australia in 1999, Bernadette worked as a case worker for the Irish Child Protection System and is very passionate about keeping children and young people safe and protected.

Thank you again to Ryan Clifton who conducted our successful Auction filled with gourmet Christmas goodies, followed by our popular Raffle At the end of the day, those who were interested in Art, were invited to view the impressive Australian Art Collection housed in the Club. Two of our guests, Judith and Chrissie, with their knowledge of art, in company with John from the Club, conducted the tour which was enjoyed and appreciated by all.

At the conclusion of the wonderful day, Maureen warmly thanked our sponsors, supporters, guests and our hard working Committee Members for their continued support in contributing to our success, wishing all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
