5-6 August 2019
On our last Race Day, our much loved President Dorothy Ryan announced her retirement from the Cornucopia Committee after 21 years as President and 30 years as member. Dorothy is leaving Sydney to be with her family in Perth.
Following her tribute to Dorothy at the meeting, Robyn Lamb, Head of the Child Protection Unit at the Westmead Children’s Hospital, hosted a farewell event for Dorothy at Westmead on 5 August, 2019. The event included members of the Child Protection Unit comprising doctors, psychologists, counsellors and representatives of the Cornucopia Committee. Robyn formally thanked Dorothy and the Committee for all their hard work acknowledging their support and funds raised for the CPU Unit over the many years of the relationship. We were then taken on a guided tour of the facility culminating in a wonderful lunch where we had an opportunity to chat with participants of the Child Protection Unit. Dorothy was presented with beautiful flowers and a Bandaged Bear trophy.
A busy week. At our last Cornucopia Committee meeting on 6 August with Dorothy as our President, Dorothy was sadly farewelled by our committee members during a lunch at the Balmain Oak Hotel hosted by Maureen Thornett, owner and treasurer of the Committee. A decision was subsequently made that Dorothy will remain as a Life Member of the Cornucopia Committee.
