Disaster!!!! Our annual Charity Race Day scheduled for Saturday 9 August was rained out in the most awful deluge – the races were abandoned and the luncheon cancelled. With all the hard work of the committee and the ATC – we were back to the drawing board! Can we choose another date? will booked patrons attend again? what do we do with cancellations etc, etc the questions were endless!

Dr Balzer’s work encompasses a wide range of patients, working with vulnerable children, adolescents and parents, navigating the feelings of powerlessness, trauma, shame and secrecy around a taboo subject, and frustrations with the system and processes designed to keep children safe which can often be difficult to fulfil.

The winter sun was shining on a spectacular blue ocean at Cronulla. The venue set the scene for our second Sealevel luncheon which was at full capacity.

Jacqui began by introducing herself and the vital work of the PARVAN Service, which supports children who have experience abuse, neglect, and domestic family violence. The Service focuses not only on medial care but also on healing through child-focused, trauma-informed therapy.

The ever colourful day began with each guest receiving a welcoming bindi. Manjits were also celebrating the Indian festival of Holi – where soluble paint is applied to some our willing guests.

Our venue at 160 Macquarie Street looked magnificent. Tables were decorated by the Committee in Christmas fashion with placemats outlining the menu and activities for the day on each table including Auction and raffle prizes, making for a very festive occasion.
