The Royal Oak hosted an absolutely fabulous Cornucopia Christmas Lunch. After such a difficult year for many of us with the pandemic, the Christmas function was a welcome return to almost normality after a year of not being able to conduct any fundraising events and meet with our friends and supporters.
The room looked spectacular with green and gold Christmas décor. The tables were fully booked with around 80 capacity – all according to the Covid rules, of course. Our guests enjoyed the festive atmosphere which included delicious starters followed by a magnificent three course lunch with De Bortoli wines. It was wonderful to welcome back our friends for such a joyous day. The day progressed with great raffle prizes and even a small auction.
Our President Maureen Thornett excelled herself with this event and was ably assisted by Neil Grigg, our favourite milliner, as MC.
To make the day more special we had a VIP Guest of Honour, Herbie the beautiful golden Labrador Assisted Therapy Dog who brings joy and comfort to patients and staff alike.
Herbie passed the day happily at the feet of his hospital minders from the Child Protection Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital. Herbie further delighted our guests with a walk through amongst the tables. Cornucopia has contributed to Herbie’s funding and we are thrilled with his success.
Donations are always welcome to fund “another Herbie”.
