2020 President’s Half Yearly Report

Dear Friends and Supporters of the Cornucopia Committee

As most of you would know, the committee’s main fund raiser has been the Annual Race Day, held at Royal Randwick Race Course, without exception, for over 60 years. For obvious reasons we had to cancel the function which was to have been held on the 23rd May this year. We are, as a committee, terribly upset as our fundraising efforts for this year look as though they will be curtailed completely, and we will therefore not be in a position to make our usual donations to the Child Protection Units and CAPS, who rely on our help. We were sorry to disappoint our guests as well, many of whom have been attending Race Day for as long as some committee members. It is all out of our hands, and we will have to hope that next year will be free of the dreadful threat the pandemic poses, and we can plan some wonderful events for 2021.

The committee wishes you all good health, and the strength to get through this distressing time without too much strain. We look forward to seeing you some time in the near future.

If any of you would like to make a donation to our very important cause please ring Sue Beston at 0410 423 437 and she will give you the bank account details, and make sure you get a tax deductible receipt. We do not have any overheads, so any donations will remain in our bank account until we have enough to distribute to the Child Protection Units at Westmead Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Randwick, The Royal Hospital for Woman Randwick, Royal North Shore Hospital, and the Child Abuse Prevention Service.
