2024 Spring Fashion Parade and Luncheon

4 September 2024

Maureen welcomed our guests and supporters to the Royal Oak with a brief outline of the work of the Cornucopia Committee. Neil Grigg introduced the models. 2024 is the 20th year that President Maureen and Sophie Thornett have hosted this function. Last year, Cornucopia celebrated our 60th year of fundraising for the treatment and prevention of child abuse. With thanks to our committees, supporters and sponsors it has been possible to raise over 6 million dollars to support the Child Protection Units of Westmead Children’s Hospital, Royal North Shore, Children’s Hospital Randwick and Royal Hospital for Women. The room was filled to capacity with our guests who later stated that it was the greatest lunch and fashion parade ever. Gorgeous fashion clothes which could be purchased on the day, were showcased by Strelitzia and their models, along with Neil Grigg hats. Maureen thanked Julie and Moira from Strelitzia and Val Edwards for models Jayd, Alexi, Charlotte and Natalie.

A delicious Royal Oak lunch was enjoyed by all followed by the ever popular raffles and auctions.

Maureen welcomed Robyn Lamb and Dr Grace Wong from SCH Westmead, Bernadette Walsh and Sarah Viapiana from SCH Randwick, Cali Goninan, Northern Sydney CPU and Rachel Wolfe our Guest Speaker. We would like to acknowledge the work of these dedicated professionals and their teams for their commitment to the treatment of Child Abuse. This is why we are here today to help raise funds for this ever increasing mistreatment of innocent children by hurting them mentally emotionally and physically. Our guests were encouraged to give them all a round of applause.

Maureen then introduced Rachel Wolfe, Manager of Northern Sydney Child Protection Service known as PARVAN which stands for Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect.

Rachel impressed us with an update and insight on the important work carried out by the Parvan Unit.

Maureen concluded by thanking their staff, the committee and Peter Andrew- Andrews Meats, jules Joto Fish, Warwick Brook- De Bortoli Wines, Saskia-Grandiflora for flowers, Warwick Evans Botanica Table Gifts, Botanica products by Olivia Newton John.
