We were honoured to receive an invitation from our Patron, The Honorable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW, to attend an Afternoon Tea at Government House, in recognition of the work being carried out in the prevention and treatment of child abuse.
Guests included representatives from the Child Protection Units, our sponsors, supporters and Cornucopia Committee members. We were welcomed by Her Excellency who complimented the work of all involved and the impact it can have on the lives of those who have been affected by child abuse. As our President, Maureen Thornett was overseas on a well deserved holiday, our Vice President responded to Her Excellency’s kind words, thanking her for her acknowledgement and for hosting such a special event.
Afternoon Tea was held in the Main Ballroom which looked very grand and feedback from our guests told us how happy they were to be part of the occasion. During the afternoon we were invited to view their exceptional artwork and also admire the gardens from the terrace. The staff were professional, ever helpful and made us feel very welcome. In these difficult times, this was really a day to look forward to, and our guests were truly honoured.
This special event has reinforced the profile and importance of the work in which we are all involved and our aim is that together we can make a difference.
