Another successful Race Day featuring Mr John Gatfield OAM as our MC, bringing with him his long involvement in the racing industry including thoroughbred owner and breeder, as well as anchor on Sky Racing and Sky Thoroughbred Central. We were assured of a great day of racing as well on the Randwick track.
President Maureen Thornett, welcomed our guests and supporters and discussed the Cornucopia Committee’s 61 years of fundraising, following acknowledgement of the traditional owners of the land and recognition elders past and present. Our guests were entertained by two amusing Phantom Race Calls by Don Harley, formerly of Sky Racing. As ever the ATC provided their delicious 3 course lunch, enjoyed by all. The business of Race Day continued with John Gatfield introducing our Guest Speaker Robyn Lamb Co-Head Child Protection Unit Westmead.
John also introduced Patricia Lyden (aka pattipinkcake) who chose the best dressed Lady and Gentleman. This was followed by our long standing auctioneer Ryan Clifton presenting our Auction. Guests were kept busy by a full program running at Randwick, the ever popular raffle and guests support of the wonderful donations in our silent auction. As can be seen in the Gallery Section, the room presented beautifully and friends enjoying each other’s company.
All too soon, the day came to an end with Maureen thanking John and all those who had assisted in ensuring the day was a success, including our magnificent committee.
