27 May 2023
This year Cornucopia celebrates its 60th year 1963-2023, and once again our annual Race Day was held in the Champagne Room at Royal Randwick. This signature event has been held at Royal Randwick for over 30 years and we would like to compliment the ATC Board and the staff for their high quality service and continued support.
Following acknowledgement of the traditional owners of the land and recognition of elders past and present, our guests and supporters were greeted by our President Maureen Thornett.
Our MC once again was Mr John Garfield OAM – a thoroughbred owner and breeder and for the past 11 years he has been an anchor on Sky Racing, especially on Sky Thoroughbred Central. John was awarded an OAM in the Queens Birthday Honours of 2022 for services to veterans and broadcast media.
The day proceeded with yet another delicious lunch, enjoyed by all. The program included our milliner Neil Grigg choosing the Best Dressed Lady and Gentleman, our esteemed Ryan Clifton conducting the auction for some fabulous prizes. Silent auction prizes were announced and our raffle conducted as well. A busy day.
We were pleased again to welcome Robyn Lamb, Co-head Child Protection Unit Westmead who updated us around the current programs in place including a new welcoming space for children at the CPU Westmead, which is soon to be officially opened. Robyn also acknowledged with appreciation, the longevity of the relationship with Cornucopia and the CPU.
Maureen thanked our guests, supporters and our hard working committee members for another great day.
