The Committee received an invitation from Melanie Russo, Relationship Manager, Community Engagement of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.
We were invited to the hospital to show us the new medical room Cornucopia has helped to fund. We were warmly welcomed by Melanie, Robyn Lamb – Department Head of the CPU, Dr Grace Wong and their colleagues in the Child Protection Unit.
Six of our Committee members including President Maureen Thornett, were treated to a delightful afternoon tea, after which we were taken on a tour of the new medical room where we were given a professional update on how the therapy room has been redone to include larger space for accommodating their patients in a comfortable and non-threatening environment. The room is bright with wall paintings, toys and other beautiful pieces which are designed to provide a safe and inviting area in which to treat the children.
It was very heartening to know that our fund raising has assisted in the successful implementation of the new therapy room.
